Federal Environment Minister, Mr Peter Garrett, today released his final decision on the Traveston Dam.

SSSMeg is pleased that, aside from the well known river impacts on the Mary River Turtle and Lungfish, the downstream impacts on the Ramsar Wetlands and Great Sandy Straits have also been recognised and acknowledged by Minister Garrett.

Of significant note is the Minister's intention to develop a regional recovery plan. We would be hopeful that this will also encompass impacts in the Great Sandy Straits.

The full text of the Minister's Media Release can be viewed here.
